What is Reiki?

It accesses the Universal Life Force Energy and this Energy helps promote healing on the Physical, Mental, Emotional and Spiritual levels. The Reiki Master and Reiki Practitioner are Channels of this Healing Energy.
Is Reiki a Religion?
While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion or cult. It has no dogma and there is nothing you have to believe to learn the use Reiki. It works with all religions and beliefs. Reiki healers are not asked to change any religious or spiritual beliefs they may have. They are free to continue believing anything they choose and are encouraged to make their own decisions concerning the nature of their spiritual practices. There are Reiki healers from all faiths around the world.
Who can be a Reiki Healer?
Reiki is very simple to learn and is not dependent on one having any prior experience with healing, meditation, or any other kind of therapy. Anybody can become a Reiki Healer if they receive an attunement. Its not necessary engage in elaborate studies about Reiki for it to work. But, you will find yourself seeking more information and sharing experiences and techniques with other healers after becoming one yourself. You will find your life altered for the best, and usually will develop a higher level of consciousness and spirituality.
What does Reiki Heal?
Reiki can be used to heal almost anything and everything that needs healing. It can be physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, past, present, and the future. Reiki can also be used to relieve stress, to overcome unwanted habits, to achieve desired goals, and to protect from harm. All living things will respond to Reiki, including plants and animals.
Are healing and curing the same?
Healing is related to getting to the root of a problem and restoring it to a normal state. Curing is what is done to remove the problem, which in certain cases needn't be the cause of the problem. In case of medical conditions it is suggested that we do not stop our medications (if any), instead use healing as a complementary process to recover faster and more comfortably or at least reduce pain/problems involved due to the illness.
Can I be healed with Reiki?
While a guarantee cannot be given on the expected results while using Reiki for healing (or any other healing system) it primarily depends on the receiver of the healing, the receivers' intent, and the nature of the receivers' problem. The healing experience is a different from person to person and the outcome also vary. In any case the Universal Life Force Energy chooses the best results.
How is Reiki healing usually done?
You relax, fully dressed, seated or lying down comfortably while the healer holds his/her hands on the region where the healing is needed or above you. A treatment can last from a few minutes to an hour or longer depending on the treatment required. Physical pressure is not applied on the body which makes it ideal for treating all ages and conditions. Healing can also be done without the use of hands in cases on non physical healing.
